After a long illness with cancer Wilson Hontz, died at his home on north 3rd street at 2:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon Deceased was a life long resident of this town and had many friends who mourn his death. He was aged 72 years, and leaves the following children to mourn the loss of a kind father: Mrs. Granville Billman, Mrs. Moses Wertman, William,
    Thomas and Harry Hontz, of town, Mrs. Ida Deibert, of Slatington, James, of Allentown, and Alvin, of Minneapolis. The Leader extends heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing relatives."

    Compressed Chronology Of Lehighton Doings. Mrs. Mary, wife of Wilson Hontz, died early
    Tuesday morning, aged fifty-nine years. She suffered from rheumatism and this affected her
    heart. She was only ill a few hours before the end came. Deceased was a good mother and
    seldom left her home to which she was greatly attached. Besides her husband she is survived by
    five sons and three daughters, viz: James Hontz, of Allentown; Al. Hontz, Minneapolis; Mrs.
    Henry Deibert, of Slatington; William, Thomas, Harry and Misses Alice and Sadie, of town.
    The funeral took place from the family residence on North Third street yesterday and was largely
    attended. Rev. Winter had charge of the services. Interment was made in the Gnaden Heutten
    Cemetery

    in 1842 he purchased farm west of Lehighton Fair Grounds, lived there until 1866. He retired to home of daughter, Sarah Hans Haupt, now the Brdbenner farm in Mahoning Valley. He was an owner of canal boats. He provided for his children and orphaned grandchildren in his will. All signed as Hans.

    George Walk about 1800 settled on Saw-Mill Creek, where he built a saw-mill and carried on lumbering many years. The place is now owned by Edward Sensinger. He had five sons, - George, Thomas, Solomon, Simon, and Daniel. George settled above Little Gap; Thomas on the homestead; Simon above Weissport; Daniel at Pine Run. Of two daughters, Elizabeth became the wife of Charles Stetler, and Caroline of Jonah Markley.
