He attended Grove City College, Grove City, PA for two years and taught Rual Grammer schools in Irwin Township and Venango Co., PA. He was a bank teller and operated a Sporting Good store in Grove City. He was employed as an inspector in the Cooper Bessemer Plant, Grove City, PA during WWII. He became a full time professional dog trainer. Traveled with dogs and horses to train in Canada, Timber Lake, South Dakota in the summer and Foley, Alabama and Waynesboro, Georgia in the winter months. His bird dogs earned numerous Championship titles in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and New York field trials.
