    "Mrs Marian Howard Andres, aged 36, wife of LeRoy W Andres of Hydetown, died at the Bashline-Shrum hospital on the Pleasantville road at 2:30 pm, yesterday, following a long illness. Mrs Andres was a daughter of Mrs Ellen Howard Morse and the late John Howard and was born in Oil City, March 4, 1907. Her father died when she was a child. Besides the husband, she leaves three step-children: Staff Sgt Edward L Andres, who left yesterday morning for Camp Blanding, Fla, after spending a furlough with his parents; Mrs Vera Andres, a nurse in Hamot hospital, Erie; and John Richard Andres, at home; also the mother and stepfather, Mr and Mrs Frank P Morse. Mrs Andres attended the Hydetown Baptist church and was active in the Home Builders class and other community activities until she became ill. The body is at the Flanders-Arnold funeral home, where friends may call and where services will be conducted at 2 pm, Sunday with interment in Greenwood cemetery. An effort was made to intercept Sgt Andres enroute to Florida, but no word was received from him up to late last night."

    Dorothy M. Zimmerman
    Dorothy M. Zimmerman of Berlin Center, Ohio, passed away with her family by her side at 4:55 a.m. Friday in Salem Community Hospital. She was 87.
    Mrs. Zimmerman was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry C. and Lillian (Windle) Howard. She was a graduate of Canfield High School.
    In her early years, Mrs. Zimmerman worked in the clerk/treasurer office of the Western Reserve Local School District. She was a homemaker, raising six children and taking care of her family.
    She was a member of the Berlin Center Homemakers and the Mahoning County Extension. She had a passion for sewing, knitting and crocheting and enjoyed baking cakes.
    Mrs. Zimmerman was a Lutheran and a longtime member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in North Jackson, Ohio.

    Mrs. Zimmerman was married on Feb. 14, 1942, in Canfield, Ohio, to Charles J. Zimmerman, and they were married for 63 years until his passing on Jan. 15, 2006.
    Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by four children, Dolly (Kenneth) Bennett of Berlin Center, Ohio, Marjorie (Bill) Richards of Boardman, Ohio, Carolyn (Lee) Yeager of West Sunbury and Don (Jodi) Zimmerman of Ellsworth, Ohio; a son-in-law, Vernon Metts of Lake Milton, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Joanna Zimmerman of Berlin Center; two brothers, Harry C. Howard of Girard, Ohio, and the Rev. Bill Howard of New York; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
    Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by four children, infant daughters, Merry Lou and Barbara Jane Zimmerman, daughter, Marie Metts, and son, Charles H. Zimmerman; a grandson, Brian Metts; a sister, Mary Alice Johnston; and a brother, Jack Howard.

    ZIMMERMAN - Calling hours for Dorothy M. Zimmerman, who died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel and again from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service in the church. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1110 N. Salem Warren Road, North Jackson.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Building Fund.

    Harry Charles Howard, Jr., 88, widower of Martha Simon Howard, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018.
    Mr. Howard was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He retired after 31 years as a master operator at National Gypsum Gold Bond Company in Niles Ohio. He was the past president of Union Local 1405, and a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was a member and great supporter of the Liberty Basketball Boosters. He was part of the Girard Senior Citizens group for many years. After he retired from Gold Bond Company he drove a school bus for Trumbell County school and is remembered for mentoring children.
    Surviving family members are daughter, Patricia Biederman and her husband Bob who reside in Simpsonville, SC; son, Jeffrey Scott Howard and his wife Nancy who live in Asheboro, NC, and his daughter-in-law, Joyce Howard who lives in Avon Indiana; five grandchildren, Trisha Klotz, Timothy Howard, Daniel Biederman, Jessica Biederman, and Paul Coyle, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Ian Klotz, Cali Klotz, Skylar Howard, Noah Biederman and Hannah Biederman.
    Harry was predeceased by parents Harry Charles Howard, Sr. and Lillian Wendell; three sisters, Jane Mitchell, Dorothy Zimmerman, and Mary Alice Johnston; two brothers, Jack Howard and William Howard and his oldest son, Larry Howard.
    A memorial service will be held 3:30p.m. on Tuesday, July 10th at The Crossing at Five Forks, officiated by Rev. Ed Deese.
    Memorials may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 16 Hyland Road Greenville, SC 29615.

    Mary Alice Johnston, 74
    NEW MIDDLETOWN - Mary Alice Johnston, 74, died Saturday, July 14, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
    She was born Sunday, Aug. 21, 1932 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Harry Howard and Lillian Howard Wendel.
    Mrs. Johnston was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg and the Eye Openers bowling league. She enjoyed her family, friends, bowling and playing cards.
    She is survived by her husband, Ernest Johnston, whom she married Jan. 15, 1949; her sons, Bob (Kelli) Johnston, Ernie (Denise) Johnston and Tim (Cari) Johnston, all of New Middletown; daughters, Mary Jane (Bob) McIntyre, Cindy (Rex) Cyrus and Cheri (Ken) Louttit, all of New Middletown; grandchildren, Bob (Chatal) Johnston, Ron (Jennifer) Johnston, Kim (Paul) Jasinski, Skip McIntyre, Matthew Cyrus, Ashley (James) Cyrus, Meghan Louttit, Michael Louttit, Dylan Johnston, Timmy Johnston, Tyler Johnston and Taylor Johnston; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jessica Johnston and Miranda Jasinski; and siblings, Dorothy Zimmerman, Harry Howard and Rev. Bill Howard.
    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Jack Howard and Jane Mitchell.
    Visitation will be at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home Monday, July 16, from 6 to 9 p.m.
    Services will be conducted by Rev. Kenneth Hacker at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at St. Johns Lutheran Church.
