    "Ellenburg: ....Lewis Vanarnam was found dead at his residence Wednesday morning, he was in usual health the day before was seen in his house about 6 o'clock the evening previous, he did not retire as his remains were found on the floor. As he lives alone, nothing is known as to the cause or manner of his death, he was 58 years old, and has resided in Ellenburg from boyhood. Funeral on Friday at M.E. church."

    The headstone on the left is probably Lewis' wife Mary Taft. The name has broken off but the year of death and age at death are the same as Mary and the location so close to Louis makes it likely. Her inscription reads, "[Mary / wife of / L. VANARMAN] / Died / June 7, 1887, / AE. 52 Yr's. / (NOTE: a bit of " L. VANARMAN" can be read)" His inscription reads, "Louis / VANARMAN / Died / Dec. 18, 1894 / AE. 62 Yrs. / Asleep in Jesus blessed sleep / From which none ever wakes to weep / a calm and undisturbed repose / unbroken by the last of foes /"

    "About the store, It was located on Station Hill in Ellenburg Depot, Ny. I contacted Leah VanArman Drown and she verified the location. George was her grandfather. He would take her to the feed store and one day he forgot her because she was playing off somewhere, He went home without her and she had to call the operator and ask her to call him at the farm to come and get her. At that time the telephone system was like that."
