Notes |
- Hans arrived at Philadelphia Aug. 28, 1750 on the ship Phoenix, Jason Mason, Captain, from Rotterdam, Last of Cowes, 339 passengers. He swore the oath of allegiance the same day. With him came his wife, Maria Margaretta and two children, Henrich and Catherine (who became an indentured servant of Matthias Eigner). Evidently they wre unable to pay for the their passage money and Mr. Eigner gave the money. He treated her kindly and had her confirmed in Lehigh Church near Alburtis, according to church records.
Hans received warrant No. 28 applying for 50 acres, Nov. 5, 1751. When he applied for the land, he stated the lands were to be located in Long Swamp Twp, Berks Co. A survey was made and returned. Hans was on the tax tables in Long Swamp Twp. in 1754 and 1759. He was on the tax list of Weiserberg Twp. in 1762. The Renunciation Papers wre filed in Probate Court in Northampton Co. Courthouse Easton, Pa. April 16, 1767, "Macongie, 6 April. 1767, Sir: I do hereby renounce the administration of my late husband, Michael Nothsteins Estate and my oldest son being within age and having refused to administer, I desire that the bearer of Matthias Eigner, jun may obtain letter of administration, he being the greatest creditor. I am, Sir, humble servant. (signed "X)
