VANARMAN" can be read)" His inscription reads, "Louis / VANARMAN / Died / Dec. 18, 1894 / AE. 62 Yrs. / Asleep in Jesus blessed sleep / From which none ever wakes to weep / a calm and undisturbed repose / unbroken by the last of foes /"

From the Plattsburgh Republican, December 22, 1894
"Ellenburg: ....Lewis Vanarnam was found dead at his residence Wednesday morning, he was in usual health the day before was seen in his house about 6 o'clock the evening previous, he did not retire as his remains were found on the floor. As he lives alone, nothing is known as to the cause or manner of his death, he was 58 years old, and has resided in Ellenburg from boyhood. Funeral on Friday at M.E. church."
